Star Bank and its Holding Company, MidWest Bancorporation, announce the election of Katie Wahlquist as Star Bank’s President/CEO following the death of Founder & President/CEO, Harry Wahlquist, on July 19, 2024. Katie will succeed Harry Wahlquist from an organizational leadership perspective to oversee the strategic direction of Star Bank and its 11 offices across Central & West Central Minnesota along with the Metro area. A celebration of life for Harry Wahlquist will take place at 11:00am on August 24, 2024 at the Grace Church Chapel (Door #2) in Eden Prairie.
Katie Wahlquist has been with Star Bank since October 2010 and is a graduate of Drake University (BA), Bethel University (MA), and The Graduate School of Banking at Colorado (GSBC). Prior to joining Star Bank, Katie was employed in the financial services sector at Deluxe Corporation and Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union (APFCU). She currently serves on the Board of Directors at Star Bank; MidWest Bancorporation; Minnesota Bankers Association (MBA); American Red Cross Minnesota & Dakotas Region; and Transforming Resources.
Star Bank recently announced additional promotions at the Executive level, including the following individuals: Matt Geist will serve as Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer; Andy Guse will serve as Executive Vice President & Chief Credit Officer; and Andy Wahlquist will serve as Executive Vice President & Chief Operations Officer.
